International Credit Union Day at The Lough Credit Union

International Credit Union Day

International Credit Union Day has been around since 1958 and celebrates the Credit Union difference – the membership between us and our members. Members always have been and always will be the pillar-stone of the Credit Union movement, which is why, yet again, we want to celebrate our members and show you all a fantastic time!

What’s Happening in Our Branches

To celebrate International Credit Union Day, on Thursday October 19th we will host a day of festivities with in-house prize-givings, colouring for children, decorations, refreshments and most importantly, smiles on all of our members’ faces! Join us to celebrate the role the The Lough Credit Union plays in our community and the close relationship that we have with our members and everyone in our common bond.

This Year’s International Credit Union Day Theme

This year’s theme was well thought out and is, ‘Dreams Thrive Here’. This is to highlight the role that Credit Unions play in aiding our members in making personal and professional dreams a reality. We have always wanted to help our members to progress in their lives and to be of benefit to them in allowing them to get themselves even further along their chosen paths with financial aid. With a host of loan and savings products, we help all of our members for newborns to the elderly to make their dreams a reality and it is what keeps us going everyday.

The Rest of Credit Union Week

So, even though we are celebrating International Credit Union Day on Thursday, 19th October, we are actually celebrating throughout the entire week, as it is Credit Union Week! For this, we will be sponsoring a generous sum of money to Cork City Missing Person Search And Recovery on Friday 20th October. Cork City Missing Person Search And Recovery is one of Cork’s most amazing charities. Bringing hope and love to members of the community and showing that through working together we can achieve amazing results, Cork City Missing Person Search And Recovery really is a dream organisation.

We will also be kicking off Credit Union Week on Monday 16th October at 9pm with Cork Hour on Twitter, where we will be giving away a fantastic prize!

Make sure to join in in our Twitter conversation on Monday and to call into us on Thursday to celebrate your local Credit Union while we give you prizes to celebrate our local members.

For any questions on any of the above, feel free to email Pádraig at padraig@loughcu.ie or call our offices on 021 496 3384.

Set Your Imagination Free – Credit Union Art Competition 2017

Credit Union Art Competition 2017 Has Arrived:

This year’s Credit Union Art Competition has been announced and the theme is **Drum roll please**… ‘SET YOUR IMAGINATION FREE‘!

The annual art competition gains huge attention and entries from Credit Union members all around Ireland… but we have to say, we think our entries are the best 😉

With over 30,000 entries a year and a huge supply of fantastic Corkonian talent, this is an amazing competition for both the young and old in our community. This year, the Irish League of Credit Unions chose ‘Set Your Imagination Free’ to hold no boundaries on your talent. We want to see what inspires you, as what inspires our members, in turn, inspires us.

How To Enter

Entry is VERY easy. Just pop into either our Bandon Road or Togher offices and ask for an entry form – it’s as easy as that! We have ample entry forms in house and are more than excited for you to come in a pick them up.

Closing Date

So the competition had 3 stages… the local level, the Chapter level and the League level, all of which have a variety of fantastic prizes. The closing date for entry to the local level (which in turn passes winner to the next level and so forth) for The Lough Credit Union is October 27th 2017. With that said, you have plenty of time, so no excuses!

Benefits of Art to Young & Old

Art is an amazing thing. Not only does it help adults to de-stress and develop creative problem solving skills, but it also nurtures fine-motor skills for children and neural development. Of course, a huge thing for everyone is also self-expression. A great idea that we love, is grandparents, parents, aunt/uncles, and children sitting down and doing their own artworks side by side – this can be such a good bonding experience!

Free Your Imagination

With all of the above in mind, you clearly have no reason not to enter – particularly as the grand finals hold a prize award giving in Croke Park next year!

Pick up one of these in-house:

If you have any questions just give us a call on 021 496 3384 or email us at info@loughcu.ie – or contact us via our site!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but this is definitely something that we might try to emulate in our homes! Pat showed us the importance of family and portraying that in your home, a lovely display.

Pat collected his prize yesterday in our Bandon Road office:

Unlucky to everyone who didn’t win. We had so many fantastic entries and it was tough to choose. We will post some of these pics on our Facebook page and website.
