Susan Keating RIP
It was with great sadness that we learnt pf the death of our friend and volunteer, Susan Keating on Monday, 4th January, 2021.
Susan was greatly committed to her community and served as a volunteer in a number of community organisations. It is for her work in The Lough Credit Union we remember her today.
Susan served our credit union, initially as a volunteer. She went on to become a staff member and after her retirement from the staff, she was elected to the board of directors, where she fulfilled the roles of treasurer and ultimately chairperson of the board. Susan served in all of these positions with great commitment and with a warm friendship for everyone and was held in very high esteem by her credit union colleagues.
During her time on the board, Susan returned to UCC to pursue studies in credit unions and co-operatives. She received a BSc in Credit Union and Mutual Business Studies and an MSc in Co-operative and Social Enterprise. She received her Masters Degree in the year of her 70th birthday, a sign of her commitment and dedication to the work of the credit union, and the knowledge she gained from her studies was a great benefit to the credit union at a time when credit unions were experiencing significant change.
We remember Susan with great admiration for her achievements, as a great advocate for the work of The Lough Credit Union but we remember her most as a wonderful friend to our credit union and a wonderful friend to all of us as well.
